As one of the guiding cooperative principles, concern for the community is important to each CarolinaLink member. Cooperatives give back through scholarships, sponsorships, grant programs and volunteerism.

Investing in Rural Pediatric Telehealth

CarolinaLink pledged $500,000 over ten years to UNC Children’s Hospital to support virtual rural health programs across the state. The gift will help the hospital launch a telemedicine program that connects children living in rural areas with specialty providers at UNC Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill. FOCUS Broadband, Randolph Communications, SkyLine/SkyBest, Star Communications, RiverStreet Networks, Surry Communications and Zirrus donated to support the telehealth program.

Scholarships

Each year, our members select the best and brightest from their communities and invest in their futures through scholarship programs. We are proud to help the youth of today become the leaders of tomorrow.

Community Engagement

Our cooperatives and their employees connect with the communities they serve. We sponsor local events, host food drives, blood drives, and support the local Chambers of Commerce. Our employees fundraise, mentor youth, and make a difference in so many ways. Collectively, CarolinaLink members serve 30 rural counties across the state and we make a difference in each one.

Smart Rural Communities

The Rural Broadband Association recognizes the efforts of rural broadband providers who deliver technologies that make rural communities dynamic places to live and do business. This designation is called Smart Rural Communities and we are proud that many of our members have received this designation.

Grant Programs

Through education, community, and economic development grants, many of our cooperatives support programs that make rural communities better places to live. These grants fill critical funding gaps and positively impact tens of thousands of North Carolinians.
