CarolinaLink - Telephone Cooperative PAC

Political Action Committee (PACs) is not a dirty word.   The existence of PACs recognizes that organizations have the same rights as individuals to the free expression of political ideas and to participate in the political process.

CarolinaLink was organized in January 2001 to educate state policy makers and the general public about the unique role that the nine Telephone Membership Corporations (TMCs) that are members of CarolinaLink have played in providing modern telecommunications services to rural North Carolina.  Equally important, however, is the need to meet the future challenges of providing high-speed Internet services to these same rural areas that our members have been serving for more than 50 years. To remain strong, TMCs will have to provide a full complement of services, including voice service, high-speed internet and video.

To assist in that effort, we must elect candidates who have views that recognize the importance of bringing comparable services at comparable prices to rural areas and support changes in that law to help accomplish that objective.  CarolinaLink formed the CarolinaLink - Telelphone Cooperative PAC to assist in these efforts.   It is our hope that by pooling resources, we can be more effective in those efforts.  The following provides some general information about the PAC:

Members:
 All memberships are voluntary and eligible members will be Employees, Retirees, Directors and Members of CarolinaLink member companies.

Contributions:
 Contributions will be solicited from voluntary members.  All contributions will be voluntary and no contributions will be solicited by means of coercion, threats, force or as a condition of employment.  The PAC Board of Directors and not company management will determine contributions to candidates.

 Each member company shall have a Member of the Board of Directors.  Initial Directors include:
